PK-MERZ® is a medicinal product administered by intravenous infusion.

• In severe and life-threatening cases of Parkinson’s disease and during acute exacerbation of symptoms as emergency and intensive care treatment

• In the case of temporary withdrawal of oral tablet therapy

• In order to increase awareness and sensory perception (as a supplementary treatment agent in coma patients of varying ethiology, traumatic brain injury / surgery, delayed awakening after anesthesia and similar situations

Parkinson disease: If PK-MERZ® monotherapy treatment is to be started for the first time, treatment with 2 tablets per day should be started. The full activity begins to appear within 48 hours.Treatment should be started with 1 tablet per day (100 mg / day) in patients who have another medical illness or who take high dose of other antiparkinsonian drugs. After one or couple of weeks of treatment, the dose can be increased to 2 tablets (200 mg/day), which is taken at the standard level of 1 tablet twice daily.In patients who do not respond to a daily dose of 2 tablets (200 mg), the dose can be increased up to 4 tablets (400 mg) to be taken daily in a divided fashion. The dose should not exceed 6 tablets per day (600 mg).
